CHAMPION HIGHLIGHT | CASEY FERNETT
We are excited to announce Casey Fernett as Mahaney's Champion of the Month! This recognition honors Casey's unwavering commitment to the company's value of Creating Opportunities for Others. Originally from Escondido, California, Casey made his way to Wichita from Midland, Texas, where he had been working in the oilfield; moving to Wichita allowed him to be closer to family. Having been with Mahaney for six years, Casey has built a successful career, starting as an ironworker, progressing to leadman, and eventually becoming a foreman over a year ago. He now leads a structural crew in the steel division, overseeing the construction of buildings from the ground up, including standing columns, hanging beams, and setting bar joists.
Casey exemplifies Mahaney's value of Creating Opportunities for Others in everything he does. As a foreman, he doesn't just focus on his own tasks but strives to uplift those around him. When asked about this value, Casey shared, “my job is to put the steel up and do what's assigned to me. But at the same time, I want to bring others up and teach them something. I want to give them something they can make a living doing and enjoy doing. It’s about passing on knowledge and giving them the desire to succeed. When I build them up, it makes my job easier, and it allows them to build their own crews and have their own spot. Seeing them succeed, like I have, is the most rewarding part of my job.”
Casey’s approach to leadership highlights his dedication to empowering others and creating opportunities for them to grow, both professionally and personally.
For Casey, Mahaney has provided more than just a job—it has given him a chance to make a lasting impact on the community. "I get to see the buildings we’ve built and know my signature is on every one of them," he says. His pride in the work he does is evident in his daily dedication and commitment to Mahaney’s success.
When it comes to Mahaney’s culture, Casey describes it as one of camaraderie and family. "We spend more time here than at home sometimes, so it’s important to have good people to work with," he notes. At Mahaney, everyone is treated equally, and that sense of mutual respect and teamwork is something Casey truly values.
When he’s not busy building structures and leading his crew, Casey enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly fishing. He also takes great pride in caring for his home and yard and cherishes his time with family.
