Champion Highlight | Tony Tejeda
Congratulations to our July Champion of the Month, Tony Tejeda!
Tony began his roofing career at Mahaney Group more than 38 years ago. For the last two years, Tony has utilized his accumulated commercial construction skills as a Senior Foreman for the Services division.
Originally from Jalisco, Mexico, Tony was 17 years old when he moved to the United States to be closer to his family and soon after made his way to Wichita where 2 of his 8 brothers reside. When he’s not working, Tony enjoys being around his family; he has 1 son, 1 stepdaughter, and 9 grandchildren who lovingly refer to him as “Honey”.
Tony was chosen as the Champion for his commitment to positivity. At Mahaney Group one of our Values is Be Positive - the belief that when we approach our work with a positive attitude, we create an energy that allows us to overcome difficulties. Bringing a positive attitude to work each day balances the grit and determination we use to get things done.
Rudy Ramirez, Services Superintendent, says, “Tony takes the scope of work or anything you throw at him and does it in a happy, positive mood. He mentors the crews, and you can always count on him to get the job done.”
Tony shared how being positive affects his work, “I love my job and everyone here; I love to help people and help solve problems.” Another way Tony lives out Be Positive is singing on the job sites when the crew is tired or upset, he explained, “it makes them laugh and realize it’s not always so serious – don’t let things get to you and get you down.”
Thank you for spreading positivity to those around you, Tony! We are grateful to have you as a part of the Mahaney team.
